Dragons Make Igneous Rocks is the result of cautious pondering, meandering conversations and great support. DMIR is my way of taking everything I know, feel, and think I know and sharing it with people who may be interested in what I have to say. It is the product of an atheistic and secular mindset, immersed in science and unafraid to be curious.
DMIR is authored by Marc Gasparotto. That's me! And what makes me qualified to write and discuss such topics? Well let me share a few things about myself.
I was born in London, England and remained in Britain until my family moved to the Middle East, specifically Kuwait and then the UAE. It was here that I grew up and learned Arabic (which I sadly do not know anymore). After a few years there, I moved to Canada. A town named Thunder Bay in Ontario.
Life in Canada was very different than in the Middle East (you try going from no winter to 6 months of winter!), but I found ways to be involved and became my high school's Student's Council President in my grade 12 year.
Upon graduating high school, I began to question my religion. Up unto this point I had been a Catholic, although I disliked going to Church and didn't see the point in praying. I had always accepted the "fact" of God as something that was just there and that was the way it was. But times were changing for me and after reading a book called "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel, I deemed the arguments he used invalid and began my own independent search for the truth. My search has led me into many interesting conversations with persons of different faiths and world views. Through all of this though, I never gained an animosity for religion. I attribute this to the fact that most of my friends and the people I respect are religious (catholic school).
I have graduated from my university's HBSc Geology program and worked in the Yukon for the summer. I left home again and traveled to Australia which I am currently exploring.
I have lived abroad and experienced different cultures and religions. I have traveled as far away as Egypt, Ireland, the Caribbean, Croatia, Singapore and as close as Atikoken, Ontario.
So if you feel like I may have something important to say, you just may be right. Check out the blog and if you like it, share and subscribe!
