Puddle Thinking

I am back! After a long period of nothingness, I have resurfaced to bring you my first Picture Blog! I have chosen the subject of "Puddle Thinking" as I have always found it a "cop out" of sorts. For those who don't know, Puddle Thinking deals with the idea that the earth was made for us. I could elaborate more, but I think I'll just let you watch my movie. Enjoy!

Click to digg this!

Imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, “This is an interesting world I find myself in, an interesting hole I find myself in, fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!”

This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it’s still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.

Are You Mad?

Are you currently pissed? Are you tired of being pushed around? Sick of being told what to do and what to expect in life? Then this video is for you!!

It doesn't matter if it's the government, your parents, your dick boyfriend or your controlling girlfriend. It could even be you via the inner conflict so many of us experience when trying to be something more.

So put your angry face on and prepare to get mad!!

Mad As Hell! Kinetic Typography

I'm not going to go into any detail about the video and where its from but you can look at this handy dandy wikipedia link. I feel even though it was made years ago, it still holds true for today. Especially with the recession the world is going through.

Now, if you were struck by the intensity of this video and feel like it resonates with some part of your life, go fucking do something about it!! I know I need to, and if any of you are like me then we have to do something! Let this serve as a wake up call for ourselves and for our society.

**Disclaimer** Don't do something stupid. Channel your anger appropriately and without violence.

That being said...GET UP AND GET MAD!

Background

The name of this blog, "Dragons Make Igneous Rocks", actually comes from one of my university geology professors. He uses this phrase as a quick bit of humor, but to me it means so much more. I saw it as a perfect blanket phrase for every irrational feeling or thought that has ever entered a human mind. From the gods of old, the superstitions of black cats and ladders, and the God of now. With this blog, I intend to discuss "dragons" of all sorts.

A quick background of me for any interested readers:
I was born in London, England, and a few years later moved to the Middle East. I stayed there for six years, until my family moved to Thunder Bay, Canada. I am still in Thunder Bay and I am attending university here.

I was raised in a Catholic family, but for the past year I have considered myself an atheist. My belief in God started to falter when I left my Catholic High School to attend University. My "deconversion" has left me with many thoughts and negative feelings about religion, but what has not changed is how I view my friends and family who are still religious. I can never view these people, whom I love and respect, in a negative light just because their beliefs differ from mine. If anything, the presence of such friends and family has allowed me to think about religion without growing a sense of hatred or mistrust. They are the sort of people I would stand beside till the end.

What I do rally against is the extremes religion can force people into. An example
being this lady in God Warrior, a fearsome force of nature.

So, what I am trying to say is that religion should be subject to thought and debate. Subject to thorough investigation and moderation in practice. Only then can the truth come out, if there be any.
